Description
Welsh Country Foods has announced plans to cut over 200 jobs at a meat processing plant in Anglesey. The decision to restructure was taken after a drop in demand for lamb and a 90-day consultation period has now started with the workforce. Part of the consultation will be exploring ways to avoid redundancies, including transfers to other businesses within the wider company, he added. The retail packing operations will be transferred to another company site at Winsford, Cheshire.
On 9 April 2010, the company confirmed the loss of 181 jobs instead of over 200 as it had initially announced.
