Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Dierre, an Italian manufacturer of armoured doors, doors windows and shutters, is to cut 200 jobs at its four plants located at Villanova, in the province of Asti. The company has also announced the recourse to the Wage Guarantee Fund schemes for the other 702 workers employed at Villanova's plants. According to Dierre management, the workforce's reduction is mainly due to the recent economic crisis. The trade unions reacted to the company's decision demanding some meetings with the company and the local authorities in order to avoid the job losses.
