Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Békéscsabai Hűtőipari Zrt., producer of frozen corn and green peas, is to cut 100 employees in Békéscsaba (Békés county). According to a press release sent to the news agencies this redundancy plan is a result of unfavourable market conditions. The plant served as a local redistribution centre of Globus group, its parent company. The company blamed the decision to cut the jobs to the falling prices of products and increasing quality expectations on the part of buyers, which should have required substantial investments. Production will cease after the layoffs, however, the cold storage facility will be maintained with the remaining 25 employees .
