Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Regency, a textile factory, installed in Caminha since 20 years ago, announced the bankruptcy. The measure will affect 174 workers mainly women aged over 40 years old. According to the coordinator of the Textile Trade Union of Minho and TrĂ¡s-os-Montes, the administration of that plant, which belongs to a multinational with Indian capital, claimed economic and financial difficulties, translated into a debt of 3.2 million euro. Due to a decrease in the orders, Regency was already in lay-off since last June.
