Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 3 December 2009, wireless technology company ST Ericsson announced the loss of 150 employees in Sweden. The measure is part of a cost savings plan. The company has approximately 1,500 employees mainly in Lund, but also in Linköping and Stockholm. The total number of employees is 2,000 including external consultants. Negotiations with the trade unions will begin in January 2010. ST-Ericsson is a joint venture of ST-NXP Wireless and Ericsson Mobile Platforms, two wireless semiconductor and platform companies.
