Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Belgian management of Wyeth, a company operating in the pharmaceutical industry, announced the cut of 120 jobs at its site in Louvain-la-Neuve. The announcement was made at an extraordinary works council meeting and concerns 69% of all employees mainly in administration, marketing and sales. Since October 2009, Wyeth is a subsidiary of Pfizer.
The number of job losses was reduced to 104 at the second official redundancy notification in March 2010.
