Description
BBC announced plans to cut more than 100 senior management and executive director jobs in a drive to reduce costs. The cuts will save BBC almost £20 million pounds, while the recruitment of new staff will be made "at a discount" to the rates they can expect in the commercial sector. Critics argue that the BBC "is out of step" by cutting staff instead of cutting the large management salaries, which have recently been under scrutiny. As of November 2009, no date has been given for the implementation of the cuts.
