Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Kenmark, a Taiwanese flat screen TV specialist, has announced plans to create 500 new jobs in Northamptonshire. The company is forecasting significant growth in flat screen television sales as the economy begins to recover and therefore plans to open a factory in Corby early in 2010. The East Midlands Development Agency has led a group of organisations to help bring the company to the town. The agency's international team has worked for three years with UK Trade and Investment's Taipei-based team and Northamptonshire Enterprise Limited in order to secure the Kenmark deal. The new jobs will be created over a three-year period.
