The Kleve site of the chemical company National Starch will be closed by 31 March 2010. In 2008, German group Henkel, a manufacturer of adhesives technologies, health and personal care products, acquired the Adhesives Technology Unit of US-based chemical company National Starch. Following Henkel's decision to close one out of four German sites, the Kleve plant will be shut by 31 March 2010. 130 jobs will be affected. According to the works council, 52 employees will be transferred to one of the remaining sites either at Munich, Dusseldorf or Porta Westfalica. Up to 70 employees are expected to accept being transferred to a job creation agency. The remaining workforce will retire or be dismissed.
