Description
On 5 November 2009, the car manufacturer Daimler announced the cut of 1,000 jobs at its Mercedes Benz division due to a drop in sales.
The company's management and the works' council agreed to offer employees up to 50 years old to leave the company in Germany (redundancy payments, reduction of working time). Mercedes Benz currently employs a total of 45,000 employees in Germany. It is noteworthy that Daimler had concluded a works agreement which excludes forced redundancies until 2011.
