Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 19 October 2009, Stukton, a provider of rail infrastructure and systems (including maintenance, renewal and construction), announced that it is to cut 350 jobs. Strukton employs a total of 6,000 employees, of which 2,400 in rail-related activities. The job losses are due to the drop in prices for maintenance contracts, caused by the liberalisation process.
