Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 8 October 2009 Danish manufacturer of lighting equipment Martin Professional, based in Frederikshavn, announced that one of the its two factories in Frederikshavn (Saltebakken) will be closed and 100 employees will be made redundant. In August, Martin dismissed 140 employees in both factories after trying to avoid redundancies through work-sharing.
