Description
The university hospital (Centre hospitalier universitaire, CHU) of Reims will cut 265 jobs within the next three years.
The cuts are part of a restructuring plan that aims at making up the hospital's budget deficit of €25m. Other measures considered include increasing charges, the reduction of certain extras and an extra charge for single rooms. 250 out of the 265 announced lay-offs will concern non-medical staff. In order to avoid direct dismissals, vacancies will not be refilled.
The hospital has recently invested €253m in extending its premises by 158,000 square metres.
