Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
After negotiations with the local trade unions, the authorities of Marie-Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin (UMCS) have announced 150 job cuts, mainly affecting technical staff, porters, cloakroom staff, and cleaners. The round of redundancies is expected to be completed by mid-2010. Approximately half of the workers made redundant are expected to be re-hired by outside firms, which will perform the same tasks. Previously, 400 dismissals had been announced.
