Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
French cable manufacturer Nexans has announced its plans to cut 387 jobs in France and to close down the plant in Chauny in northern France.
The Chauny facility employs 220 workers. Further cuts affect the plants in Fumay (53 job losses), Clichy, Jeumont, Lyon and Mehun. Management will launch a restructuring plan to foster voluntary departures and to organise internal transfers in order to avoid direct lay-offs.
The project was announced to staff representatives in September.
