Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
In May 2009, Sony Ericsson in Lund gave notice to 410; 160 employees and 250 consultants. In late August they announced that they won't have to dismiss any of the announced 160 employees, but the 250 external consultants have to leave the company. Until the summer 2010 Sony Ericsson will have to save 580 million Euro globally. Since half of the work force in Sweden is situated in Lund there is a risk for further notices at this location and others in Sweden.
