Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Ojgar, a new owner of the glassworks Kavalier Sazava, has announced that it is to cut 250 jobs out of 1,000 by the end of November 2009 due to economic downturn. According to the CEO of the local labour office, collective dismissals will affect roughly 200 employees and 50 fixed-term working contracts will not be renewed. The glassworks located in the city of Sazava was the only plant belonging to the bankrupt company Bohemia Crastalex Trading (BCT), whose production had not been interrupted.
