European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The commercial court of Lyon (Rhônes-Alpes region) has announced that the restructuring plan of the electric machinery manufacturer ABB, which includes the reduction of 540 jobs between October and December 2009, is legal.
Unions of the ABB group contested the court's decision and asked the management for additional documents on its social plan but their claims were dismissed. The judge found that the lack of information provided to the trade union experts was not evident, that the case was not of great emergency and that it was thus not within the court's jurisdiction.
