Description

On 12 August 2009, T-Systems, the Deutsche Telekom's business client unit, announced that it is to cut around 3,000 jobs in 2009 and 2010 across the country. The company management and works council agreed to keep the number of dismissals as low as possible due to operational reasons. To reach this goal, compensation payments will be offered to employees leaving the company on a voluntary basis. In addition, an early and partial retirement scheme will be offered. However, surplus employees not taking on any of the company's offers will be moved into a so-called transfer company managed by Deutsche Telekom's personal service provider Vivento that will support them in their search for a new job. T-System aims at operating with a total of around 24,000 staff after the completion of the job downsizing. For these 24,000 staff, job garantee was granted until mid-2012.

T-Systems, a provider of IT and telecoms services for businesses as well as for German federal and municipal governments and European public administrations, has been struggling with shrinking sales and low margins.
