European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The world consortium Silpro (Silicium de Provence) has announced that this consortium filed for liquidation bankruptcy of the company. The entire workforce of 250 persons is facing job loss in 2009.
In its July 29 first-half earnings statement, EDF Energies Nouvelles said it had made a provision of EUR 20.2 million to cover its commitments relating to SilPro. German photovoltaic module maker Solon SE said that it had incurred impairment losses of EUR 52 million from the insolvency of French SilPro.
The losses will be recognised in the financial report for the second quarter of 2009, due on 18 August 2009.
In December 2006, Silpro announced the choice of Saint-Auban (Alpes de Haute-Provence) to build the first factory in the world entirely intended for the production of silicon polycristalin for the manufacturing of solar panels.
