Description

In July 2009, Pliva-Lachema, a subsidiary of Teva Pharmaceutical from Israel, announced that it had already cut 250 jobs out of 650 since January 2009. The foreign investor had also decided to close the site in Brno unless a new buyer is found by the end of 2009.On 22 September 2009, the company confirmed the closure of the plant that will result in 400 job losses by the end of 2009. About 50 employees might be given jobs in company's second plant in Opava.The company's business activity is focused on the research, development and production of generic pharmaceuticals against cancer.
