On 20 July 2009, Fokker Aircraft Services announced it will cut 10% of its total workforce. The unions complain that this is already the third year in a row that 10% of the jobs are cut. The cutbacks are due to the economic crisis hitting severely some leading air carriers and as a result there is less need for aircraft maintenance. As of July 2009, there is no information on when the job losses will be implemented by.
