Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
AEES Czech Platinium Equity (previously Alcoa Fujikura), a producer of wiring harness systems for the car industry, will axe 733 jobs with the closure of the site in St?íbro by the end of 2009. The new American owner has decided to move the production to Romania in order to lower labour costs. Trade union has negotiated a social package, including severance pay amounting to almost 7 average monthly wages. The company was one of the biggest employers in the region and in 2007 employed some 2,050 people. The restructuring measures started in 2008 (see fact sheet No 11392).
