Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Bernard Krief Consulting has merged with the troubled motor-vehicle equipment supplier Heuliez, leading to 474 job losses in France. The move was approved by the commercial court in Niort. The new company will be named Heuliez New World. 474 jobs will be cut between July and October 2009.
Heuliez, which employs 1,074 in Cerizay, western France, was placed under judicial receivership in April 2009. BKC was the only candidate buyer. BKC pledges to retain 600 of the 1,074 jobs at the company, planning to bring the staff to 800 or 900 within three years. The state has vowed to invest EUR 10 millions in the company through the sovereign fund (FSI), and the Poitou-Charentes 'Régions' has pledged a further EUR 5 millions.
