Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Danish manufacturer of furniture, Bodilsen, based in Northern Jutland, has gone bankrupt and, on July 1st, dismissed 400 employees.
The estate is still at work on a rescue plan for the company. According to the rules concerning bankruptcy the employees will receive their unpaid wage from the Employees' Guarantee Fund, while the employers' association of Bodilsen, DI, will pay the holiday allowances. Also, according to the rules of bankruptcy, the local union of TIB (Woodworkers Union) will not take part in the continued effort to safe the company.
