Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Unilever France, a subsidiary of Anglo-Dutch consumer-goods group Unilever, has announced that the group will cut 153 jobs in France before the end of 2009.
The move is part of a new cost-saving and reorganisation plan, which will affect the staff at the head office, located in Rueil-Malmaison (Hauts-de-Seine), in the western suburbs of Paris. The company plans to reduce costs by cutting jobs at its administrative units. This internal restructuring plan is a follow up to an earlier announcement made by the company in December 2008.
