Case and New Holland, a world leader in agricultural and construction equipment, is to close its plant in Imola, Italy, with the consequent loss of 460 jobs. According to the company, the closure is mainly due to the reduction in demand registered in the last months.
The redundant workers should participate in a two-year scheme of extraordinary Wages Guarantee Fund. The trade unions disagree with the company's decision and, in the near future, they should present an alternative solution in order to avoid the closure of Imola's plant.
CNH belongs to the Fiat Group. In Italy it has other two productive plants at Lecce (530 employees) and San Mauro Torinese (780 employees).
