Description
Chocolate manufacturer Cadbury Ireland has announced up to 200 redundancies at plants in Dublin and Rathmore, Co Kerry. The UK-owned company has attributed the announcement to recent currency movements (the weakness of sterling and the dollar against the euro), which, it said, had exacerbated the high cost of manufacturing in Ireland. This has contributed to a decline in export demand, the company said. However, Cadbury's suggests it is still committed to its Irish operations. As of June 2009, there is no information on when the job losses will be implemented by.
