Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Intima Design is a clothing company from Krmelj in the Spodnjeposavska region, which employs 132 workers, mostly female. Since February 2009, the company has not received any new orders and the owner decided to launch a bankruptcy procedure. By 1st July 2009 all the 132 workers will receive their notice. At the moment there are no signs that any of workers may be reemployed in a foreseeable future. The owner says, if some orders will appear in autumn, some activity may be re-launched but at the moment there are absolutely no guarantees in this direction.
