Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The manufacturer of wiring harnesses and cables, PKC group, is to cut 128 jobs in its Kempele unit. PKC Group started personnel negotiations in March 2009 planning to cut 226 jobs. The job cuts are carried in two phases. A total of 87 workers will be made redundant by the end of May 2009. The rest, total of 41 workers will be made redundant by the end of September 2009. The Kempele unit employed total of 280 workers before the job cuts.
The job cuts will be carried out due to financial and productivity reasons and the weakening situation in orders.
PKC Group has factories in Finland, Brazil, China, Mexico, Poland, Estonia and Russia and employs some 5,600 employees.
