Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Ingemarga, a company operating in the mining and quarrying industry, has informed the trade unions (CIG, UGT and USO) that it will make 64 workers redundant at its plant in Guitiriz, which currently employees 155 people. On 14 May the workforce started a 24-hour strike and gathered in front of the company to protest against the dismissal of 16 employees on 5 May.
