Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Pimkie, a French retailer of women clothing, is to cut 190 out of 2,088 jobs. 138 jobs are to be cut in Pimkie outlets and 52 at its headquarters in northern France. The decision is aimed to prevent a further decline in profits and strengthen the competitive position of the company.
Pimkie was established in 1974 and is specialised in the distribution of clothing for 15-24 old women. Pimkie International employs 6.008 workers worldwide and opaerates 760 outlets, mainly in Europe.
