Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Danish producer of wings to the windmill industry, LM Glasfiber, is to cut 425 jobs at the department in Hammelev. This is almost every second of the workers at Hammelev department. The redundancies in Hammelev add up to the 420 job losses at the department in Lunderskov announced in January 2009. In the second round of layoffs, the affected employees were given notice on 25 March. Following the layoffs around 500 employees will be left at the department in Hammelev. All together LM Glasfiber has 1,780 employees left in Lunderskov and Hammelev. The reason for the cut of jobs is the current crisis in the windmill industry. The job losses in Denmark are part of a larger restructuring plan involving the loss of 725 jobs Europe-wide.
