Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Panalpina Luxembourg firm, branch of the Swiss group Panalpina, specialised in logistics and operating at the Luxembourg airport Findel, has announced that it is to cut 50 jobs (out of 300) over the coming six months. As of 23th April 2009, the volume of work has fallen down by about 40% mainly due to the loss of a important client who has moved to another country. The trade union representative of OGB-L has negotiated a social plan with the managemement that garantees an allowance for the affected workers.
