Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The textile company Carfer, located in Esposende closed unexpectedly declaring bankruptcy. The measure will affect 160 workers, mostly women. Following this unexpected and sudden closure the Work Conditions Authority (ACT) presented an official complaint against Carfer.
The Portuguese authorities have applied for aid from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF).
