Description
Danish footwear company Ecco is to cut 271 out of 800 jobs in its subsidiary Ecco Slovakia based in Martin. The dismissals are due to start on 1 May 2009 and are due to about 20% decline in customer demand. According to the president of local trade unions, collective agreement ensures that dismissed employees, most of which are workers, will receive twice higher redundancy pay than the Labour Code sets as the minimum level.
