Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Giesen, located near Antwerp and specialised in casting of metals for the automobile industry, is to close its site of Hoboken, with a consequent loss of 237 jobs (193 blue-collar workers and 44 white-collar workers). The company provides materials to Daf Trucks, Volvo and Mercedes which are now experiencing serious financial difficulties.
