Description
On 8 April 2009, the trailer manufacturer Schmitz Cargobull announced to cut 500 out of 4,000 jobs in Germany. Moreover, the contracts of 350 temporary agency workers are not to be prolonged. The company indicated that it suffered from a lasting drop in orders. Schmitz Cargobull is currently negotiating with its works council to facilitate socially acceptable solutions for the affected workers, such as early retirement schemes, part-time work or compensation payments.
