Cablex is a producer of cable harnesses and other cable stationery products for household appliances and automotive industry. At the end of September 2008, the company employed 359 workers at two production locations: 287 in Tržič in the Gorenjska region and 72 in Semič in the Jugovzhodna Slovenija region.
Since then the company has been facing severe reduction in the number of orders. As a result, the company already dismissed 98 workers (40 in Tržič and 58 in Semič). In the next few months, the company will close down the unit in Semič and thus dismiss its remaining 14 workers. In Tržič another 30 employees will lose their jobs. Job cuts at both locations amounts to 142 in total.
