Description
MTT (Mariborska tekstilna tovarna) Tekstil from Maribor in the Podravska region is a producer of table and bed linen, of shirtings and of professional clothes, which employs 180 employees. The management and the owners launched the procedure of regular liquidation of the company. All 180 jobs are under threat. The reasons for the liquidation include reduced orders, depreciation of UK Pound the UK being the main market of the company, 100 percent increase of energy prices in 2008 and increased labour costs. Due to all these reasons, the management says, there is no possibility the company to operate in positive figures.
As reported on 2009-03-26 by the radio raduioena.si, it may be that part of the production and 60 to 80 jobs will be retained, but most probably all 180 employees will lose jobs.
