Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Pharmaceuticals multinational, Schering Plough, has announced 240 redundancies and the closure of its veterinary products plant in Bray, County Wicklow. The plant is to close down by the middle of 2011. The company has stated that no redundancies will be implemented over the next 12 months, adding that the decision to close the plant had been taken to optimise efficiencies as a direct result of global over-capacity.
