Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Finnish Machinery manufacturer Metso announced 39 job cuts in its Fiber business line unit in Pori. 39 of the total of 300 employees will lose their jobs and the remaining 260 are to be temporarily laid off. The measures are caused by the weakening of the global market situation, which has led to changes in order schedules and a reduction in the amount of work.
The measures wil commence in January 2009 at the earliest. Metso's units in Pori are part of the company's Fiber business line. They specialize in machinery and related expert services for chemical pulping.
The number of Metso personnel in Finland totals approximately 9,300.
