Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The French construction group ‘Eiffage' will dismiss 220 workers in Spain, 100 in Madrid and 120 in Catalonia. Eiffage employs 3,500 people in Spain and experienced a fall in profits of 9.3% in 2008. In November, the energy division of Eiffage presented an ERE (Redundancy Dismissal Procedure) to the Department of Employment of the Generalitat de Catalunya in order to dismiss 152 workers in this autonomous community.
