The Pomeranian division of the Polish Border Guard (Straż Graniczna) headquartered in Gdańsk is to disband with the loss of 400 jobs. The Ministry of the Interior and Administration is planning to disband the Pomeranian division in a move entailing loss of 400 jobs by the end of 2009. The document entitled "Premises for the Long-Term Concept for Reorganisation of the Border Guard, 2009-2015" provides for the elimination of all Border Guard units presently charged with patrolling Poland's western border; these three divisions (of Pomerania, Lubuskie, and of Łużyce) will be replaced by a single division based in Krosno.
