Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The regional newspaper Bergens Tidende has - as other newspapers - experienced reduced sales and announced at a meeting with the employees on 27th of February 2009 that 130 to 150 jobs will be cut before 2012. 65 employees have already accepted to leave the company voluntary with severance pay or early retirement. No more detailsĀ on the restructuring are availableĀ at this stage. After Easter negotiations will start between the local unions and the management on how and where the remaining cuts will be done.
