Description
A prior announcement was made last September to delocalise part of the activity of Continental Autoradios in its site of Rambouillet (near Paris). This is due to the financial crisis affecting the whole automotive sector as well as the need to cut production costs.
The decision to delocalise part of the production to Tunisia, will take place within four phases: in early April, 88 jobs will be cut, 110 posts in the third term of 2009 and finally 59 jobs in the first three months of 2010. There will be an additional 125 jobs cut at the end of 2010.
Continental's Works Council and the management agreed to implement a volontary departure plan by the end 2010. This programme - open for six weeks - is meant to help staff who wish to leave or who have a project outside the company. Other possible job measures are early retirement, creation of a company or training. A commission set up of staff, trade unions and management will examine the applications.
