Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Nolik VIO, which manufactures furniture for businesses, is to make redundant between 60 and 75 employees from its workforce of 297. Nolik VIO manufactures furniture for business, working and sales premises, and is located in the town of Kočevje in the South Eastern Slovenia. The company plans to reduce the number of employees by 60 to 75 people by mid 2009. The reasons for the reduction of employment are reduced orders, cancelling of existing orders, reduction of prices and delayed payments.
