Description
Gorenje, a manufacturer of household appliances, is to make redundant 400 to 500 employees by the end of 2009 because orders have fallen by 20-30% in the first two months of 2009 due to worsening market conditions. Gorenje is a Slovenian blue-chip household appliance manufacturer of appliances such as refrigerators, kitchen ranges, complete kitchens, TV sets etc. It currently employs 5187 people (down 295 from a year earlier) throughout Slovenia, but predominantly in the town of Velenje in the Savinjska region.
