Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Finnveden Powertrain, supplier to the global commercial vehicle industry, gave notice to 256 employees working in the Alvesta, Kungsör, Moheda, Torpsbruk and Trollhättan plants due to structural change and adjustment of production to the current market situation. The restructuring is intended to specialize production in each of the units: Alvesta, Moheda and Torpsbruk will be specializing in precision components, Kungsör in valve actuation and Trollhättan in connecting rods.
The company's customers are primarily producers of diesel engines for trucks, buses and construction equipment. Major customers include Volvo Powertrain, Scania, Ford, DaimlerChrysler, Bosch, Caterpillar and Haldex.
