Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
GDE (Guy Dauphin Environnement), which recycles industrial products, is to lay off 140 workers at 56 sites across France. 10 voluntary redundancies have already taken place, according to Bruno Le Sech, the general secretary, and another 130 are sought.
The company is targeting 18 positions across 4 sites in the Loire Atlantique Department.
GDE specialises in recycling ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, paperboards, batteries and industrial waste. The company has experienced a decline in activity due to the crisis in the construction and automobile industries.
